Configure Outlook 2010 IMAP or POP Account

POP (Post Office Protocol) mail downloads your mail to your hard drive, while IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) keeps everything — even your sent mail — on a server. In short, IMAP gets you e-mail portability.

Follow these steps to create an Outlook 2010 POP3 or IMAP account:
  1. In Outlook, go to File, Click the Info tab
  2. Click Add Account
  3. Click Manually configure server settings or additional server types radio button.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click the Internet Email radio button.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Enter the following information: 
    • Your Name: <Display Name you want to use, i.e., Joe Smith>
    • Email address: <Full email address, i.e., username@example.com>
    • Incoming Server: <mail.madriveraccess.net, mail.skywaves.net, or mail.vtweb.com>
    • Outgoing Mail server:  <Same as above ie: mail.madriveraccess.net, mail.skywaves.net, or mail.vtweb.com
    • User name: <Full email address, i.e., username@example.com>
    • Password: <Your email account password>
  8. Click Next.
  9. We require SMTP Authentication, please follow these steps.
    • Click on More Settings.
    • Navigate to Outgoing Server Tab
    • Check "My Outgoing Server requires SMTP Authentication".
    • Click OK.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Click Finish.
